What are some easy but delicious meals an amateur could make?

I’m 18 and bored of eating only sandwiches and microwave dinners. What are some relatively easy things that I could make – breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack food.

Just looking for something new =]

Basic spaghetti with store bought sauce, that you add cut up veggies like carrots, garlic, peppers, etc.
Ground turkey and bean burritoes, brown the turkey with onions, garlic, peppers, whatever you like, and add the beans at the end to warm. Add shredded cheese, sour cream, diced tomatoes, salsa, green chile sauce.
Minute Brown rice with 30 minute Chicken curry (search Yahoo for chicken curry in a hurry or related recipes.)
Baked potatoes with lots of trimmings.
Breakfast, fry an egg and some canadian bacon, add cheese and make a breakfast sandwich. Make oatmeal the night before by adding some apple juice and some grated fresh apples, soak in fridge overnight- that one’s my favorite!
Do searches for recipes and you’ll find recipezaar, cdkitchen, cooks.com. there’s a lot of ideas.

Scottish Recipes – Cheese Soup and Dumplings

    Cheese Soup

    Ingredients:
    1oz Butter
    1 large onion (finely chopped)
    1oz plain flour
    4 oz scottish cheddar cheese
    Seasoning (Salt & Pepper)
    3/4 pt milk
    1 level teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 pt chicken or vegetable stock

    Dumplings:

    2oz porridge oats
    1oz shredded beef suet
    1 finely chopped small onion
    1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
    1 beaten egg
    Seasoning

    Method:
Use a pan large enough to contain all the ingredients. Then, melt butter and cook onion till soft. Stir in the flour, mustard and cook for approx. one minute. Then stir in the stock and milk, season and bring to the boil. Then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

For the dumplings, place the oats, suet, onion and chopped parsley into a seasoning bowl and bind with the egg. Divide the mixture and roll into small balls. Bring a saucepan of (salted) water to the boil and drop the dumplings in. Cook for approx. 15 minutes, then remove from water and keep warm

Your soup should now be ready to remove from the heat. Add the cheese(grating will make this a quicker process) and stir until fully melted. Then return to the heat and when the soup is hot through, serve immediately with the dumplings placed in each bowl.

I’m King of simple and delicious, so here’s an easy one; Your friends will think yoiu slaved away all day it’s SO good!

Get some boneless chicken breasts- Brown them a little in a skillet with a little oil. Just long enough to get a nice brown outside. Then, put them in an oven dish (probably glass/pyrex or metal is OK…. cover with Salsa (Yea, the stuff you’d use for chips)

Cover with foil and bake at 350 for one (1) hour.

Rice is really good with this. Super tasty and tender… Have fun. ;-)

  12. dreamweaver_86 says:

  13. ramalama3 says:

Shrimp fettuccine! It’s just pasta, heavy cream, butter, garlic, parmesan, italian parsley for garnish, and shrimp that you can buy precooked at the store. You basically just heat up the cream and butter until it thickens, add the shrimp and stir until warmed through. Toss with cooked pasta and chopped parsley. If you don’t like shrimp, chicken works just as well (just buy some precooked chicken from the deli counter or cook some chicken breasts in olive oil and butter in a pan). It looks and tastes great for company too. It’s virtually foolproof.

  15. Dark Shadow says:

Spaghetti is fairly easy to make. All you need is a pound of hamburger a box of noodles and some spaghetti sauce. First you brown the hamburger and get some water boiling. Add a pinch of salt to the water to prevent the noodles from sticking. Then once the water starts to boil add the noodles and cook for approximately 10 minutes. After the noodles are done strain them and let them sit. Then add your spaghetti sauce to your hamburger and mix it. All you have to do now is put some noodles on a plate and put your hamburger spaghetti sauce on top and enjoy(:

  16. sugars says:

    Some yummie vol au vents

Chopped roast chicken, chopped bacon pieces, chopped onion, light cream, grated cheese, chopped chives, salt and pepper to taste.

Spoon the ingredients into the vol au vent cases and bake till golden brown, about 15 mins (not too high an oven temp).

You could do lots of different variations on this recipe, maybe add some mushrooms, corn etc.

The mixture keeps for about a week.

    Absolutely delicious!

Shepherds Pie is easy, Chicken Noodle soup is too, Haddock Florentine or I know this recipe for a Haddock with Cilantro that is amazing, baked mac n’ cheese, chicken pot pies, lasagna, homemade pasta/sauce…actually relatively simple

I actually know a ton of recipes and it would take a ton of time to put them all in this box. If you want a certain recipe or want me to just email you a bunch email me at thenortheaster@hotmail.com most of them are in my head or ones I’ve fiddled with to make better.

    For starters try this:
    Chicken Noodle Soup
Chop about 2-3 Carrots and 2-3 stocks/pieces of celery, one onion and any other veggies you like…i like to throw a can of peeled diced tomatos in for extra flavor

throw them in with some chicken broth…

grill, broil, or even boil a chicken breast chop up throw in…add some spices, parsley, cilantro, pepper, or mrs. dash works well too…boil once veggies are tender break up a cup or so fettucine or egg noodles and add boil until tender…eat up!

    Seafood Linguini
    SAUTE: 2 TSP. GARLIC POWDER
    2 TSP. OREGANO
    4 TBLS. MARGARINE
    (for 1 minute, stirring constantly)

ADD: 2 MEDIUM TOMATOES (CHOPPED) (I used 2 cans of diced tomatoes in tomatoe juice, 14.5 oz each can, total of 29 oz)
(Stir and cook for 3 minutes)

    ADD: 12oz MILNOT
    1 CUP GREEN ONIONS (CHOPPED)
    1 CUP GRATED SWISS CHEESE
    6 OZ. GRATED PARMESAN CHEESE

    After cheeses have melted
ADD: 16 OZ. IMITATION CRAB (I used 24 oz)

POUR OVER: 12 OZ. COOKED LINGUINE NOODLES

NOTE: There’s just a little milk left in the can. After I drain the noodles, I pour the remaining milk over the noodles and stir, before I add the sauce. It thickens up considerably after setting a while.

    Remember milnot is evaporated MILK
